Welcome to today's channel rundown, containing vital news and analysis on the channel's comings and goings.
Read all about it below:
Sumo Logic and AWS's collaboration
Machine data analytics platform Sumo Logic has selected AWS as its preferred cloud provider on which it will continue to develop its solutions.
Sumo Logic has also launched a new MSSP and system integrator program with AWS. The vendor said that traditional security analytics tools built to serve specific silos "are not optimal to effectively manage security and compliance within the modern DevSecOps organization". It claimed that new cloud-native solutions help by providing scalable and accelerated detection and investigation for the challenges of cloud environments.
To "match price to analytics value", Sumo Logic has also announced new additions to its Cloud Flex licensing model, which it claimed provides customers with "maximum flexibility to align data consumption with analytics use cases".
In addition to its Cloud Flex Continuous and Cloud Flex Frequent licensing tiers, Sumo Logic will provide a new Cloud Flex Infrequent data set tier that adds support for ingesting and storing AWS data sets that are occasionally analyzed.
Channel's cloud specialists
An increasing focus on digital transformation will prompt the rise of cloud migration security specialists in the channel in 2019, according to Gary Marsden, cloud security solutions, data protection at vendor Gemalto.
Marsden claimed that as organizations embrace digital transformation, "the process of migrating to the cloud has never been under more scrutiny; from business leaders looking to minimize any downtime and gain positive impact on the bottom line, to hackers looking to breach systems and wreak havoc".
As such, Marsden said that 2019 will see "the rise of a new role for the channel".
"As companies move across, there is an assumption that they're automatically protected as they transition workloads to the cloud."
virtualDCS's Veeam integration
Cloud computing firm virtualDCS has launched Veeam Apple Backup - enabling virtualized Apple Macs to be fully integrated into Veeam's backup and disaster recovery platform, Cloud Connect.
Designed for businesses that use virtualized Apple Macs for graphics-heavy video editing and design work, virtualDCS said customers can use a central portal to protect and restore mission critical data without interrupting processing.
The system replicates virtual machines to secure, off-site datacenters, providing full and partial failover recovery from the same central platform as existing Veeam backups.
It removes the need for separate, dedicated systems and "inelegant workarounds" for the protection of Apple Mac virtual machines, allowing them to be fully integrated with other data and virtual environments for the first time.
Logitech's Plantronics no-deal
Logitech's explored acquistion of Plantonics is off, the vendor confirmed today.
After a report from Reuters Friday said that the Swiss vendor had offered more than $2.2 billion for Plantronics, Logitech released a statement today clarifying the situation, according to Channelweb.
The statement said that the two had engaged in discussions regarding a potential deal, but "those discussions were terminated".
Onica has launched a new IoT solution powered by AWS.
The pre-integrated solution, IoTanium, is designed for the rapid development and deployment of IoT applications, according to Onica.
Announced at AWS re:Invent 2018, the offering brings together a reference hardware platform, a software package for building IoT applications and analytics, and professional services from Onica.
The company said that applications built on IoTanium "can quickly and easily advance from proof of concept to customized, production-ready solutions in a fraction of the time".
It added that IoTanium enables Onica to provide its customers with IoT solutions and connected products across several industries, including medical devices, media and entertainment, oil and gas, logistics, and connected homes, offices and cities.
