Kaseya's MSP survey
Remote monitoring and management (RMM) tops the list of most critical applications for MSPs, according to Kaseya's 2018 MSP Benchmark Survey.
Nearly half of the 900 MSPs questioned for the study name RMM as their most important application, followed by IT documentation, with professional services automation (PSA) tools trailing in third place.
Kaseya says this is little surprise, as RMM is essential to managing endpoints, describing RMM as "an MSP's bread and butter".
It also says MSPs are realizing that PSA platforms are not driving business revenue, claiming there is some "frustrations with limitations of first-generation PSAs".
Overall, it says most MSP have moved away from commodity, break-fix services to deliver more strategic, value-added offerings, powered by RMM.
The survey says security is up year over year in revenue for 65 percent of respondents and was the service least likely to be stagnant or decrease.
ADTRAN's new channel agreement
Networking vendor ADTRAN is teaming with master agent Telarus to sell ProCloud Unified Communications (UC) and NG Firewall to partners in a new agent commission model.
The ProCloud Subscription Services Program, Telarus says, will enable its 4,000 partners to expand their services portfolio with new recurring revenue streams.
ADTRAN is pitching benefits, such as monthly recurring revenue, a scalable service to align customer costs with consumption and a platform of cloud-hosted and managed solutions.
The program includes both hardware and Software-as-a-Service options, including UC, security, network management and analytics.
The company cites Technavio data that predicts that the UC-as-a-Service market will grow 25 percent through to 2021.
Cytracom's intelligence engine
Cytracom has today launched what it says is the channel's first integrated voice intelligence engine that helps MSPs "simplify, secure, sell and scale" managed VoIP services to SMBs.
Available now to channel partners in the U.S., the new service, Ivie, tracks and analyzes data in the customer's voice network, detects irregularities and notifies MSPs and their customers in real time.
The intelligence layer works with Cytracom's proprietary VoIP platform, and the firm claims it is "a great entry point or add-on service for MSPs".
Cytracom CEO Zane Conkle says adding Ivie to the vendor's existing platform "was a strategic investment in R&D" and claims the addition will bring "tremendous value and service differentiation to us and our channel partners".
RISC's partner program
RISC Networks has updated its channel program, with the latest version offering new incentives and benefits, as well as a partner relations management system.
The IT discovery and analytics platform vendor says the new program comprises two tiers, General and Exclusive.
General partners will be able to control downstream invoicing and have access to proof of concepts and service provider licensing.
Exclusive benefits will include 'sell-with' access to sales engineers, deal registration, partner sandbox, custom 90-minute kick-off training and a co-branded portal.
Exclusive members will also have access to a new partner portal, which hosts co-brandable assets, sales pipeline views and training certification courses.
Automated swarm attacks are making it increasingly difficult for organizations to protect users, applications and devices, says a new report published today.
Fortinet's Global Threat Landscape Report warns that the sophistication of attacks targeting organizations is accelerating "at an unprecedented rate, and notes that cyber criminals are "leveraging the expanding attack surface" that digital transformation creates.
"They are implementing newer, swarm-like capabilities, while simultaneously targeting multiple vulnerabilities, devices and access points," the report says. "The combination of rapid threat development combined with the increased propagation of new variants is increasingly difficult for many organizations to combat."
The report reveals cyber attacks per company increased by 82 percent over the previous quarter.
