Cognizant to Buy Contino for Developer, Cloud Skills
Contino’s expertise includes DevOps, cloud-native development
Professional services company Cognizant is bolstering its capabilities around application development and the cloud with its planned acquisition of privately held consulting firm Contino, which has expertise in DevOps, cloud-native development, and data platforms.
The Lowdown: London-based Contino, which was founded in 2014, brings with it relationships with public cloud giant Amazon Web Services (it’s a member of AWS’s Global Premier Partner program), as well as with Microsoft Azure and Google Cloud Platform.
The Details: Cognizant is expecting the deal to close by the end of the year. No financial details were disclosed. According to Cognizant, Contino comes with key areas of expertise, including:
> Cloud: Contino’s solutions include repeatable and scalable methods for building cloud platforms and migrating applications to the cloud.
> DevOps: Companies’ software-development efforts can become leaner and faster by implementing DevOps.
> IT security: Contino offers ways to implement modern security practices through DevSecOps and cloud security services, which enable companies to consider security and automation earlier in the development cycle.
> Cloud-native software: Developers can accelerate and scale the delivery of software through cloud-native technologies and services.
> Building platforms: This includes leveraging analytics to gain insights into data from multiple sources to better predict outcomes.
Background: Contino has about 350 employees and operations in the United States, the United Kingdom, and Australia. It has worked with more than 200 enterprises over the past five years, with clients that include Adidas, Barclays, Dow Jones, Morgan Stanley, and Vodafone.
