Avtec acquisition gives Motorola deeper capabilities in digital dispatching systems for public safety and commercial fleet operations
Motorola Solutions is expanding its portfolio and capabilities in supporting first responders and public-safety organizations through the acquisition of Avtec, a leader in digital dispatching systems.
The Lowdown: Based in South Carolina, Avtec is a market leader in dispatching systems that utilize voice-over-IP (VoIP) technology over land mobile radio (LMR) and broadband networks. The systems produced by Avtec provide organizations with field operations a means for using digital technology to connect operations centers and mobile works via two-way radio.
The Details: Motorola Solutions did not disclose the terms of the deal or the expected closing date. No information is available on when Avtec products will become available to Motorola Solutions’ partners and customers.
The Impact: The acquisition will expand Motorola Solutions’ and its partners’ ability to sell end-to-end communications systems to public safety, first responder, transportation and logistics, energy and utility, and logistics customers.
The Buzz: “Avtec’s industry-leading solutions enable business-critical communications across diverse industries. Avtec expands our public safety and commercial portfolios, allowing us to offer an end-to-end platform for customers to communicate, coordinate resources, and secure their facilities,” said John Kedzierski, corporate vice president of Infrastructure and Systems at Motorola Solutions. “As part of our portfolio, Avtec will continue to offer dispatch solutions for a number of radio network vendors so its customers and channel partners can maximize their integration options.”
“Motorola Solutions has been a committed partner to Avtec for years,” said Michael Branning, retiring CEO of Avtec. “Under Motorola Solutions, Avtec will continue to evolve the Scout platform and maintain the culture of service our customers and channel partners have come to expect.”
