Tim Mackie brings more than two decades of channel experience to the endpoint security vendor’s program
SentinelOne, a maker of endpoint protection, detection, and response solutions, last week lured an experienced channel leader from one of its key competitors. Tim Mackie, a 23-year veteran of the IT industry, left the channel chief’s seat at Cylance to join SentinelOne as its new VP of worldwide channels.
Mackie (pictured) assumes the role previously held by popular channel chief Dee Dee Acquista, who came to SentinelOne from Proofpoint in April 2017 to take the global channels job. Acquista remains with the company with the title of vice president of channels. She will report to Mackie, SentinelOne officials said.
The Details: Mackie’s two decades of channel and tech industry experience include his most recent role as vice president of international channels and worldwide distribution at Cylance, where he built the company’s international go-to-market model. Prior to that, he served as global channel chief at SD-WAN vendor Talari and as vice president of worldwide distribution and global services delivery at Riverbed. He’s also been in leadership roles at HP and Intel.
Background: Mackie is the third executive in less than two years to jump from Cylance to SentinelOne. Cylance’s global sales chief Nick Warner joined SentinelOne as Chief Revenue Officer in June 2017. Warner is now the vendor’s COO. The following month, Raj Rajamani, former Cylance head of products, joined SentinelOne as vice president of product management. Rajamani left SentinelOne last year to take a similar role at Cohesity.
The Buzz: “SentinelOne’s technology is simply unmatched in its innovation, and the consistent evolution of the platform to meet a rapidly changing threat landscape is something I have long admired,” said Mackie. “Simply put, I believe that the SentinelOne platform is the best positioned and most capable solution to protect the enterprises of today and tomorrow.
“Combine the revolutionary technology with the truly world-class team that SentinelOne has built, and I couldn’t be more excited to share our story and opportunity with partners around the world,” Mackie added.
“Tim’s reputation, experience, and success building global channel programs and working with partners across the globe is simply unmatched and will further propel our growing channel presence to the next level,” said SentinelOne’s Warner. “Beyond Tim’s incredible skill set and experience, he is also an innovative and tenacious leader, embodying the same traits that make SentinelOne such a force to be reckoned with in the space.”
“Tim is the best type of channel executive, one who puts an immense amount of importance on ensuring partners have the best solutions available with the right kind of program to support the go-to-market,” says Julien Antoine, a vice president at the French security-focused specialty distributor Exclusive Group. “He only puts his weight behind world-class and game-changing technologies, so for him to join the SentinelOne team speaks volumes about the company’s offering and trajectory.”
