SaaS version offers flexible deployment options and transferable, user-based pricing
Exabeam this week took the wraps off its Exabeam SaaS Cloud offering, a cloud version of the vendor’s on-prem Security Management Platform that boasts all of the SMP features without the infrastructure cost and maintenance headaches.
The Lowdown: The hosted cloud version packs plenty of features, including a data lake, behavioral analytics, case management, security orchestration, and incident response automation. Because Exabeam SaaS Cloud allows users to ingest data directly from multiple cloud services, it obviates the need to route cloud data to on-premises data centers.
The Details: Users can license SaaS Cloud through Exabeam Spectrum, a flexible set of deployment options with predictable, user-based pricing. Data in Exabeam’s SaaS Cloud is encrypted both at rest and in transit, and the environment is SOC Type 1-compliant, officials said.
The Impact: The new cloud offering brings important capabilities to an audience of organizations and security service providers without large teams or budgets, a group that’s often shut out of advanced SIEM and SOC features. Having access to a low-overhead, pay-as-you-go way to employ robust behavioral analytics and leverage incident response playbooks and connectors to IT infrastructure and applications should greatly improve both detection of advanced threats and automated remediation for these users.
Background: Exabeam scored $50 million in funding from Lightspeed, Cisco, and security investor Shlomo Kramer last August. The D-series funding round was specifically earmarked for the development of the Exabeam SaaS Cloud product.
The company earlier this week also announced three new tiers for technology partners that integrate with SMP. The tiers include:
• Exabeam Integrated Design Partner: For companies with at least one product supported for data ingestion and parsing by either Exabeam Data Lake or Exabeam Advanced Analytics.
• Exabeam Certified Design Partner: For those with at least one product that can be automated by Exabeam Incident Responder along with pre-built rules or models for Exabeam Data Lake or Exabeam Advanced Analytics.
• Exabeam Validated Design Partner: For companies with at least one product that can be automated by Exabeam Incident Responder and with pre-built rules and models for Exabeam Data Lake and Exabeam Advanced Analytics that are validated by Exabeam technical staff. Exabeam will also create solution briefs and implementation guides for validated partners.
The Buzz: “In the same way that we solved the cost problem of SIEM through flat, user-based pricing, we are now solving the operational challenges of SIEM through a hosted SaaS offering,” said Sylvain Gil, executive vice president of products at Exabeam. “This new cloud model removes the burden of deployment, maintenance, and upgrading, which would otherwise require a dedicated headcount.”
“A key to Exabeam’s successful disruption of the SIEM market has been to build smarter solutions that overcome the challenges of legacy SIEMs,” said Nir Polak, CEO of Exabeam. “It’s only logical for us to offer our SIEM technology via SaaS, to support customers’ migration to the cloud and to meet cloud-first initiatives.”
