BCDR vendor expands presence in Canada for MSPs
In a move aimed at helping spur Datto’s growth in the Great White North, and that of partners serving SMBs in the region, the vendor has unveiled a new location in Markham, Ontario, Canada.
The Lowdown: Datto CEO Tim Weller and Ontario member of provincial parliament Billy Pang oversaw today’s ribbon-cutting ceremony at the new office. They were joined by Rob Rae, vice president of business development at Datto, and Ontario councillor Alan Ho.
Background: Datto continues to operate in growth mode and firm up its leadership team. Earlier this month, the company promoted Weller to CEO, replacing founder Austin McChord.
The company’s growth comes both organically and through acquisitions. In 2017, Datto acquired professional services automation (PSA) platform provider Autotask. Last fall, the storage, networking, and BCDR vendor announced that it was enjoying stellar growth in Europe, the Middle East, and Africa. And Datto added 300-plus Canadian partners to its roster in 2018.
In a recent CRN article, Weller said Datto’s plans for 2019 include deepening relationships with MSP partners, investing in technology with new product rollouts, and expanding its global channels, especially in Europe.
The Buzz: “At Datto, we’re proud to be a global organization that provides services on a local level. Our new space in Markham enables us to support the more than 1,100 Canadian partners we serve to help them grow their businesses,” said Weller. “Datto added more than 325 new Canadian partners in 2018. Billy Pang and Alan Ho have provided great support for our growth and have created a welcoming business environment for Datto, our partners and thriving local businesses.”
“The Canadian MSP channel has grown significantly over the last several years as more and more companies are focused on helping SMBs address IT challenges like business continuity, data backup and recovery, and security threats like ransomware,” said Jamie Smith, general manager at Lanetco Computer Networks, an MSP and Datto partner. “We’ve been working with Datto for several years, and we look forward to benefiting from their expanded presence in this market.”
